About Michael
Michael has always loved to work. He was let go from his first job because he was not old enough to have a work permit. Since then he has said yes to many employment opportunities that have led to many enjoyable adventures and life experiences.
Almost 30 years of practice in a variety of career fields gives Michael an in-depth understanding of diverse workplace environments and hiring strategies. He has spent the last 17 years in higher education career development working with students of all ages and is known for his creative and strategic approach to success.
Contract gigs, simultaneous employment, and hundreds of employer visits have allowed Michael to expand his industry knowledge to ultimately help his clients with their career journey.
At home, Michael enjoys creative challenge solving with his teenage son and tries to match wits and humor with his teenage daughter. He also tries to soak in just some of the passion his wife has for cooking, traveling, and gardening. He is an avid runner, stained-glass artist, and enjoys tinkering with home improvement projects.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in film from the University of Oregon, a master’s degree in counseling from George Fox University and has been designated a Master Career Development Professional (MCDP) by the National Career Development Association.
Though job titles can be deceiving and limiting, Michael has been a television news-photographer, youth director, yard work specialist, inventor’s assistant, house cleaner, substitute school teacher, bar tender, videographer, nut house sales associate, truck driver, merchandiser, communications coordinator, pre-school teacher, sports marketing manager, radio promotions assistant, private practice counselor, sports mascot, independent film producer, blog consultant, community service director, and career director, coach, and counselor.
